79Bike has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in electric dirt bikes, and it's easy to see why: strong power for the money, quality components and a lineup that covers almost every type of rider. Treasure Valley Electric Cycles is an authorized 79Bike dealer in Eagle, Idaho, and we carry three models that span the range: the Lynx, the Falcon GT and the Y-Volt Surge V.
Here's how they compare, and how to pick the right one for the way you ride.
Side-by-side specs
79Bike Lynx: the smart first e-moto
The Lynx is our go-to recommendation for riders coming from mountain bikes, pit bikes or no bikes at all. 12 kW and 410 N·m is plenty for the climbs out at the Owyhee Front, but power comes on smoothly enough that it doesn't feel intimidating.
It rides on full-size 19/18-inch wheels with 200 mm of travel at each end, so it handles real terrain, not just backyard laps. And yes, it has a Bluetooth speaker built in. It sounds like a gimmick until you're rolling through the sagebrush with music playing.
Best for: first-time e-moto riders, adults stepping up from an e-bike, taller teens with supervision.
79Bike Falcon GT: the all-around sweet spot
The Falcon GT is the souped-up version of 79Bike's popular Falcon Pro. It adds a big jump in torque (610 N·m) and a more adjustable FastAce fork with high- and low-speed compression tuning. That matters when you ride everything from smooth fire roads to rocky, rutted climbs on the same day.
Through the companion app you can adjust torque, top speed and regen to match your skill level. That makes the GT a bike you can grow into rather than outgrow. There's also a reverse function, which is a lifesaver when you point the bike up the wrong side of a steep wash.
Best for: riders who want one bike that does it all, Sur-Ron owners ready to upgrade, anyone who loves to tune.
Y-Volt Surge V: 97 volts of serious
The Surge V is the heavy hitter. A 97-volt system, 35 kW of peak power and 948 N·m of torque put it in the same class as the most powerful light e-motos on the market. It runs a liquid-cooled motor and hits 0–60 mph in about 4 seconds. Long-travel FastAce suspension (245 mm front, 300 mm rear), 4-piston hydraulic brakes and a forged aluminum triple-beam frame give it the chassis to use that power, and the IP67 rating means stream crossings and spring mud aren't a worry. It's also a Red Dot, iF and IDEA design award winner.
This is not a beginner bike. It's for experienced riders who want gas-bike pace on long backcountry days toward Idaho City, Garden Valley and beyond.
Best for: experienced riders, gas dirt bike converts, long-range backcountry riding.
